Sejarah

Bina Swadaya Konsultan, selanjutnya disebut Swadaya Consultant merupakan salah satu bagian dari Yayasan Bina Swadaya, yakni perusahaan jasa konsultansi nasional yang bergerak di bidang pemberdayaan masyarakat dengan layanan utama berupa penelitian, pelatihan, dan pendampingan. Perusahaan ini terbentuk dari semangat untuk menyebarluaskan pengalaman Bina Swadaya kepada pihak-pihak lain yang mempunyai perhatian terhadap kegiatan pemberdayaan masyarakat.

 

Kegiatan konsultansi di lembaga ini sudah dimulai sejak tahun 1983, yakni melalui kerjasama dengan BKKBN dalam Proyek Peningkatan Pendapatan Kelompok Akseptor (1983-1991) yang didanai oleh Kerajaan Belanda. Pada awalnya  kerjasama tersebut  mendampingi sekitar 300 kelompok, kemudian  berhasil dikembangkan oleh BKKBN menjadi lebih dari 400.000 kelompok swadaya masyarakat (KSM). Selanjutnya,  dengan Departemen Kehutanan (Perum Perhutani) dalam Program Perhutanan Sosial (1986-1998) yang didanai oleh the Ford Foundation, telah berhasil dikembangkan  sekitar 9.000 KSM yang berasal dari anggota masyarakat desa di sekitar kawasan hutan dengan kegiatan pengembangan simpan pinjam, usaha produktif, dan konservasi hutan.

 

Di sektor air bersih, sanitasi dan kesehatan, kegiatan konsultansi dimulai melalui Program Pemasaran Sosial, Proyek Sanitasi dan Air Bersih bekerjasama dengan Departemen Pekerjaan Umum (Ditjen Cipta Karya) pada tahun 1991-1993, dengan sumber pendanaan dari UNDP. Selanjutnya, bekerjasama dengan Departemen Kesehatan yang didanai oleh Bank Dunia, melaksanakan kegiatan konsultansi untuk Proyek Penyediaan Air Bersih dan Sanitasi bagi Masyarakat Berpenghasilan Rendah (Water Supply and Sanitation Project for Low Income Communities = WSSPLIC).

 

Bina Swadaya Konsultan terlibat dalam sejumlah proyek terkait dengan sektor sanitasi, air bersih, dan hygiene, antara lain: Outcome Monitoring Study WSLIC-2 (Second Water and Sanitation for Low Income Communities) in East Java, NTB, West Sumatera, South Sumatera; Training for Community Facilitator Team (CFT) WSLIC-2 West Java Region; CFT Training Kalimantan Package of CWSHP; Empowering of Groups of Water and Sanitation Infrastructure Management Institution Post Construction WSLIC-2 in East Java; Refreshing for CFT and Orientation of MPA/PHAST for DMPU and PMC; Training for CFT East Java 1 Region WSLIC-2 Project in Malang, East Java; Orientation of MPA/PHAST for TKC WSLIC-2; Clean Water Facilities Recovery in West Sumatera; Post Construction Census and Capacity Building  WSLIC 2 Package H1in South Sumatera, West Sumatera, and West Nusa Tenggara; Consultancy Services for Community Based Total Sanitation (WSLIC-2 Project Package G) in South Sumatera, Bangka Belitung, West Java, South Sulawesi, West Sulawesi and NTB; and Community Water Services and Health Project (CWSHP) Regional Support Team Jambi in Batanghari, Sarolangun, Muara Bungo, Muaro Jambi and Tanjung Jabung Barat Districts; Event Organizing Services for Supply Chain and Busine

 

 

HISTORY

Bina Swadaya Konsultan or Swadaya Consultant, is one of operating units of BINA SWADAYA Foundation, is a national consultancy service firm engaged in the sector of community empowerment to the main services  of research, training and technical assistance (facilitation). This unit was established from the spirit to disseminate Bina Swadaya’s experience and best practices to other parties that have concerns for community empowerment activities.

 

Bina Swadaya Foundation as the holding company of Swadaya Consultant is a Non-Governmental Organization that manages and develops number of services oriented on the increasing of welfare and community self-reliance, particularly the grassroots. Based on the belief that the poor people are not the “have not” but the “have little”, the self-help group development is believed to be an appropriate strategy to alleviate poverty. Indeed it is hard for them to overcome the problems that they face by them selves. Therefore, joining them together in a group that they trust, they become greatly empowered.

 

It is initiated from direct assistance which was provided to the grassroots communities through an approach of promoting self-reliance groups, the  Bina Swadaya Foundation has entered its   fourth decade with more than 800 employees. It has developed   and produced some engagements, which are classified into sectors as follows:

1.Civil Society Empowerment

 

PT. Bina Sarana Swadaya: Providing facilities and learning apparatus with primary services and environmentally friendly technologies to local people and expanding sustainable coverage.

PT. Bina Swadaya Konsultan: Intending o disseminate Bina Swadaya best practices through consultancy services (technical assistances, trainings, and researches) to government agencies, donors, NGOs, and various private sectors such as agribusiness, public health, natural resources & environment, fisheries, agriculture, education, mining, population, gender, and disaster. Besides, other activities, namely social entrepreneurship which includes Griya Cerdas Banguntapan Griya Yogyakarta (community learning centre), Joint Business Community, and CEDEP (Cultural Environment Development Exposure Program).

 

2.Micro Finance Development

Micro finance services through banking and non-banking institutions, as well as national cooperative services to serve the poor and marginalized. (3 Rural Credit Bank, 7 Branch Offices of Micro Finance Services, and 11 Cooperatives of Bina Swadaya Nusantara).

 

3.Agribusiness Development

This sector encompasses activities such as marketing of products and agricultural production facilities by developing “Trubus Shop” for the Indonesian people. (PT. Trubus Mitra Swadaya- managing Trubus Shop; and PT. Trubus Pangan Sawadya (managing “bekatul” bran).
